Pleacher is a season book for hedgelayers. It records the lengths you work, the days you log against them, your photos and your season calendar. All of that is stored only in the app's own folder on your device. Pleacher has no account system, no server, no analytics and no advertising, and it makes no network requests of any kind.
What Pleacher collects
Pleacher does not collect any data, and nothing you enter is sent anywhere. Specifically:
- Hedge lengths, day logs and season records. Location notes, styles, species, metres, pleachers, stakes, binders, dates, match entries and workday plans are written to a JSON file inside the app's own sandboxed storage. This information never leaves your device.
- Photos. When you choose a before, after or day photo from your library, or take one with the camera, the image is copied into the app's own storage folder and resized. Pleacher does not upload, share or transmit photos anywhere, and it cannot see the rest of your photo library beyond the picture you choose.
- Settings. Your unit preference, stake spacing and similar preferences are stored using Apple's on-device UserDefaults store, purely so the app remembers your choices between launches.
Permissions Pleacher asks for
- Photo library access is requested only when you choose to add a photo to a length or a day log, so you can pick a picture from your library.
- Camera access is requested only when you choose to take a new photo of your work directly within the app.
- Notification permission is requested only if you turn on a regrowth check reminder or a workday reminder. These are local notifications scheduled entirely on your device; no notification content is sent to any server, and Pleacher uses no push notification service.
Data sharing
Pleacher does not share any data with third parties, because it does not collect or transmit any data in the first place. There are no third-party analytics kits, advertising networks or crash reporters bundled with the app.
Data retention and deletion
Your season records live only on your device for as long as the app is installed. Settings includes an option to erase all data at any time. Deleting the app also deletes everything it stored, including your photos, exactly as with any other app's sandboxed storage on iOS.
Exporting your own data
Settings lets you export a season summary as a plain text or CSV file through the system share sheet. That export is created locally on your device; where you choose to send it afterwards (for example, by airdropping it or emailing it yourself) is entirely your own decision and outside Pleacher's control.
Children's privacy
Pleacher is a general-audience utility for people who lay hedges and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information from anyone at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the "last updated" date above will change with it. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
